Thread: Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite

    Default Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite

I'm posting this so that it may help out other new users. I have just purchased the Proteus and found that the AudioStobe CDs do not work with the glasses when using Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Elite. Other users have noted similar issues with other SoundBlaster products such as Audigy.
I will be contacting Creative to see what they might offer, but my quick was this. My mother board has a built-in RealTek sound device, and by connecting to Line Out on it and changing the the Audio settings in the Windows XP Control Panel, everything is working fine.
I am able to use the Proteus Audio Strobe function just fine with my Sony CD player.
It seems that Creative Sound Blaster does something that prevents if from working direcltly with the Proteus. If I hear anthing useful back from Creative, I will return to this thread and update it.

    Thanks for the heads-up.

Have you checked to see that all of the sound effects/sound enhancements are turned off? Most sound cards have all manner of environmental sound options, many of which mutilate the high frequency Audiostrobe signals.

Let us know how you get on.

    Cheers,
    Craig
