Help with Synchromuse Session for Sleep Induction
Hi
Firstly, I tried to ask this question in a comment on http://www.mindplacesupport.com/foru...eep-Induction/ but I couldn't work out how to add a comment! I must be thick :)
Anyway, I downloaded the session files and the mp3 for this sleep session, and uploaded the session to my Procyon. However, when I play the mp3 files through my Android phone it does not trigger the session. Doing the same thing with the .flac file for this session http://www.mindplacesupport.com/foru...omuse-Sessions worked fine.
The comments for the Sleep Induction session do say that there may be a problem with the mp3 file triggering it if not run through a computer, but i have tried playing the mp3 through Windows Media player and it doesn't trigger the session then either.
On the Sleep Induction session thread it suggests that you select the right session by hand, and press play when you hear the beep. I can of course try that, but it risks being out by a split second and so not having the sound and lights properly synchronised. Also, as I have transferred two sessions to my Procyon (the sleep one and Solar Adoration), and have now forgotten in what order, is there any way I can tell which is which? Or is there a way to tell which session the Solar Adoration file triggers?
Alternatively, is there still a download of the Sleep Induction .flac file anywhere?
Or, does anyone have any ideas as to what else I can try? I have made the volume of playback as high as I can but I just can't get the session to start, ether via computer or via my phone.
Thanks

No problem to post here, of course!
Re: Help with Synchromuse Session for Sleep Induction
Hi Bob,
Sorry to say but mp3 playback is notoriously difficult to trigger reliably. The reason is that mp3 is a compressed format that eliminates vital information especially that contained at the beginning of the file. It tends to attenuate high frequencies as well which has proven to be a problem at times. FLAC, AAC and OGG formats are what will be preferred going forward for Synchromuse work probably.
Manual triggering of the session even with a delay of a second or two should not really be noticeable in practice. Maybe at faster flicker rates or really tightly synchronized sessions but the Sleep Induction likely won't have these issues.
There is no current way to tell exactly what session is in what slot on the Procyon however when you get one that triggers with Synchromuse I believe when you return to the SES mode that session will be cued up and indicated by the number on the display.
Sorry about the mp3 issue, I and some others can get it to work under certain conditions or devices but FLAC is the way to go. If someone wants an AAC file for iOS devices please let me know.
Scott

Thanks Andy, that's the sort of thing I was looking for, but I couldn't (and still can't) see it. Maybe that blog is closed for comments? I did try 3 different browsers, and I tried when logged in and when not, and still no joy.

Hi Scott. Thanks for this, and for the Sleep Induction itself of course. I'll give this a go tonight then and see how I get on.

Ah great. I did notice that when Solar Adoration finished the display did show 051 but I thought that might be just because the Procyon was showing whatever was the last stored session. So now I know that the Sleep Induction must be #50 and I can start it manually.

Do you still have a FLAC version anywhere? Or is there anyway I can recreate the FLAC using the session files, the session editor, and the mp3? I am new to all of this (only got the Procyon on Monday, but loving it so far) so grateful for any help.
Thanks

Now that I think about it, you probably can't post a comment until you're a registered user. (i.e. you have made a couple of posts in the main forum). It's a spam-control thing to keep the forum from getting spammed with viagra ads.
You've been verified now so please check if you are able to see the comment window, and let me know if you cannot.

The FLAC file is here for now... https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1582339/Sleep%20Cycle.flac I will upload it to a more permanent location when I have a moment... so this is a temporary link until further notice...

I start getting uncomfortable and needing to move around/turn over etc after much less than that, which makes it harder to relax and drift off! I shall start trying to build up to longer sessions, perhaps using some of the meditative sessions first.

I guess the system had a problem with your e-mail address, so I had to manually verify you.
Should be all good now, not that it matters anymore! :)

Ah, now it has turned up. my last post had to be validated before it appeared too, so perhaps that was the last one needed.
